How do I test my Smoke Detector?

First, call monitoring and put your system On Test before you start (don’t want any Fire Trucks).
Then get a can of Smoke In A Can at Home Depot. Spray the canned smoke close to the Smoke Detector, The smoke detector will trip into Alarm if it is working.
Then you will need to Reset your smoke detector and Fan the fake smoke away with something.
This is a great annual test, and the great thing about Canned Smoke is it will not leave smell or residue.
